How to Become a Member
To become a member of the St. Albans Town Fire Department, you must first fill out an application at the fire station.
If you wish to fill out an application, please stop by the fire station located at 428 Lake Rd. in St. Albans, on any Monday night from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
Once you have filed an application, you will have a probationary period where you will learn about our fire apparatus, firefighting techniques, standard operating procedures and more. All probationary trainees are required to complete the Vermont Fire Academy Firefighter I course, and pass the final examination before they can become firefighters on the St. Albans Town Fire Department.
If you are in high school, but under the age of 17, you are eligible to be in our Cadet program. The Cadet program is for those interested candidates who are not old enough to be a trainee. While being a Cadet, you will take part in special training exercises, activities and programs to help prepare you for being a firefighter someday. The Cadet program is a good way for younger people to decide whether the fire service is right for them before they become a trainee.
The St. Albans Town Fire Department is a volunteer fire department, and welcomes anyone to apply. If you feel that you have what it takes to be a firefighter on the St. Albans Town Fire Department, please come down and fill out an application. We look forward to seeing you soon!
